About the organization
A nonprofit built around keeping pets home.
Five O’Clock Sanctuary Inc. is the Florida nonprofit behind Spoil A Stray and Affordable Pet Clinics.
Why we exist
Founded in 2023 by Barbie Mellinger, Five O’Clock Sanctuary Inc. grew from a simple concern: people who love their pets can still struggle to afford the care they need.
Twix and Brownie, two abandoned dogs who became family, helped inspire the work. Even at an affordable clinic, veterinary care can be expensive. Those costs can become a barrier for a family or for someone who stops to help a found animal.
We work to give people practical options before surrender becomes their only answer.
Our mission
Support the people.
Protect the bond.
Our mission is to help pets remain safely with the families who love them by improving access to food, veterinary care, supplies, training, and other practical support.
Five O’Clock Sanctuary Inc. is the parent nonprofit. Spoil A Stray carries out our public assistance and community work. Affordable Pet Clinics is our free public directory.
